IT'S not often the words “students” and “money management” will be in the same sentence, but students at Great Yarmouth College learned the skills of cash control and making their money go further at Yarmouth College.

Money awareness activities and workshops teaching and highlighting financial management and literary - both serious and fun - ran across the college helping young people to be more “money-minded” and get more for their cash.

The new School of Innovation and Enterprise organised seven one-hour tutorials for students across the college to show numerous ways to save money.

And there were fun events including chocolate tasting of cheap and expensive chocolate and money saving ideas demonstrated using a shopping basket donated by Tesco showing how a basket of items from the Tesco Value range could save more than 12 compared to a basket of the same items from the store's Finest range.

Anu Babu, head of the school, said Money Week was run in selected colleges by the independent education charity, The National Skills Academy Financial Services (NSAFS).

She said: “The idea is to encourage students to be more money wise and show them how simple it is to save money on many things. We are very grateful to Tesco who not only donated the groceries but also a 20 voucher for the chocolate tasting.”
