STUDENTS from East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston did their bit to encourage smokers to kick the habit.

As part of National No Smoking Day the student health and welfare team held a stall throughout the day giving advice and encouragement to anyone who wants to cut back or give up smoking.

As part of National No Smoking Day the student health and welfare team held a stall throughout the day giving advice and encouragement to anyone who wants to cut back or give up smoking.

Students raised awareness of the event around the college by putting on the cigarette costume and advertising the advice stall.

Apart from the benefits to health, research shows that an average family can save up to £2,000 a year if just one person gives up smoking.

Dean Wilson from the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Health Trainers, part of the Community Connections service of the NHS, was in college to support Karen Mayfield, the college's student support officer.

Karen said: “This was a well supported event and it caused quite a lot of engagement from students.”
