School pupils from Norfolk could be set to take part in the trip of a lifetime - going to see a World Cup game in South Africa -but are in desperate need of sponsorship from local businesses to make the dream come true.

Norfolk-based charity Rainbow Nations, which champions building bridges through sport, is aiming to send seven teams of seven students from across Norfolk to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

In return children from South Africa will come and enjoy the 2012 London Olympics.

The seven teams were selected from 20 high schools in Norfolk who entered a competition set by Rainbow Nations, asking pupils to produce work which showed how sport is used to reach across different communities, particularly focusing on Norfolk and Gauteng, a province in South Africa.

The successful entries were from Cromer High, Hellesdon High, Acle High, Old Buckenham High, Sheringham High, City Academy Norwich and King Edward VII School in Kings Lynn.

The students' trip to the World Cup is provisionally booked to take place from Wednesday, June 9 to Friday, June 18, but is dependent upon sponsorship.
