PLANS for a massive extension of the British Sugar plant at Cantley will be closely scrutinised by the Broads Authority when members visit the site. The visit on January 9 will assess a £35m scheme to expand the factory's current five- month sugar-processing operations during the summer to handle imported raw sugar cane.
British Sugar says the new operations will lead to 55 lorries a day taking the sugar to Cantley from Yarmouth's outer harbour.
Following the visit, members of the Broads Authority's planning committee are due to vote on the proposals in February.
