THE sunny weather has brought hundreds of people out onto the beach and promenade in Great Yarmouth today - as temperatures are expected to hit up to 27C.

Traffic is reportedly slow moving along the A47 Acle straight as scores of day trippers and holiday makers pour into the borough for an icecream and paddle in the sea.

The whole county is baking in warm sunshine today and inland it is expected to hit a high of 29C.

Dan Holley, a weather forecaster from Norwich-based Weatherquest, predicted that today would be the warmest of the weekend and said the Breckland area would be one of the hottest areas in the region at 31C (88F).

He said: “Inland we are expecting temperatures of around 29C to 30C (86F). It is going to be dry today but we will get some hazy sunshine and there will be a breeze.

Tomorrow could paint a different picture with predictions of some showers and even thunderstorms.

Mr Holley added: “We could see some mid level cloud in the morning and very light showers but this is a low risk. There could also be a small rick of an isolated thunderstorm in the day.”

Staff on the Britannia Pier said there were plenty of people wandering up and down the wooden walkways to take advantage of the sea breeze, while Regent Road is chocker block with browsing beach goers as they make their way to the sand.
