BRITISH CHAMPIONS!: A pair of talented youngsters have been crowned British roller skating champions. Harlee Wicks, seven, and Ellen Siegert, eight, scooped the top prize in their categories at the annual British Artistic Roller Skating Championships, and brought silverware back home to Great Yarmouth. The pair are both members of Restroskate Artistic Roller Skating Club.
Coach Donna Wicks said their wins in the tots category at last weekend’s competition was a “fantastic” boost for the club as a whole. “It was fantastic for them after all their hard work and dedication and at such a young age as well,” she added. “Their schools have both been fantastic, letting them have time off to train, which has helped them immensely.
Harlee, who won the boys’ tots title last year, and Ellen had to perform a figure sequence, followed by a free event, with the scores from both being added up to give them their combined winning totals. The youngsters are now preparing for their next big event, when they will fly out to Croatia with fellow club members to take part in an international gala in June.
