YEAR three pupils at Caister Junior School were visited by Mark the Egyptologist from Portals to the Past to create a living history day as part of the Ancient Egypt Week celebrations. The week's events included choosing Egyptian names, consturcting pyramids, Egyptian dancing and making jewellery. During the morning, dressed in Egyptian style costumes, the children tried a Egyptain Quiz, learnt maths in the Egyptian way and found out more about Egyptian life and death. The afternoon activities were a popular event, with mummification sessions, when pupils were shown by Imhotep, the High Priest, how to prepare a body, remove internal organs and how to wrap it in bandages!
