EVERY little helps – but members at Centre 81 in Great Yarmouth got more than they bargained for when they asked the town’s Tesco for a gift voucher as a prize in their fundraising raffle.

Tesco’s community champion Stephanie Hambling was so impressed by the centre’s training and leisure activities for people with physical and sensory disabilities that she arranged to replace their ailing old TV with a new set.

“Trustee member Barbara Fransham asked if we could help with the raffle but when I had a look around I was amazed at the great atmosphere and tremendous work going on there and asked if we could do more,” said Stephanie. “They showed me the TV room with its ancient set on a low stand which made it difficult for people in wheelchairs to use. So we decided to present them with a new 36inch wall-mounted LCD set, worth nearly 500 – and they were thrilled.”

The set was handed over by colleagues Sharon Boulton and Adele Hammond from Yarmouth Tesco in Pasteur Road and they joined members in checking the programmes and using the screen to try their hand at some of the games.
