A three-day inquest into the death of a man discovered on Great Yarmouth’s shoreline has started.

Brian Stannard, 64, was a resident at Eversley Nursing Home on North Denes Road, Yarmouth, at the time of his death.

His body was found face down on the water’s edge by a herring fisherman near the Iron Duke pub on North Drive at around 6.30am on November 14.

Mr Stannard was from Yarmouth and originally from Northgate Street and Palgrave Road.

The inquest into his death was started on October 24 at Norfolk Coroner’s Court by Norfolk Coroner Jacqueline Lake.

It is expected to last for three days and will be heard in front of a jury.

Members of Mr Stannard’s family, including his former wife, brother and sons, were at the proceedings.

Eversley Nursing Home, run by Kingsley Healthcare, will have legal representation throughout the inquest.
