The park and ride site at Thickthorn was packed with mean machines glistening in the midday sun as hundreds of bikers from around Norfolk gathered for the Eastern Lights Motorcycle Cavalcade.
It took more than 20 minutes for the motley collection of Harley Davidsons, Hondas, Vespas and drag bikes to filter out of the car park and head out on to the A47, cheered by onlookers perched on grassy banks and roundabouts.
The ride to Lowestoft, which was supported by the police, is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the James Paget Hospital's accident and emergency unit.
It was diverted close to its destination after an accident at Corton blocked the A12.
