Robbie Harris is desperate for Fakenham Town to hand him the perfect parting gift.

The player-boss will take charge of the out-of-sorts Ghosts for the final time today after deciding to step down on Wednesday. A victory at home to Hadleigh United could lift the Premier Division club out of the bottom three. That's exactly what Harris is hoping will happen as he prepares to hand over the reins to returning manager Wayne Anderson and his right-hand man Neil Jarvis come 5pm.

Harris, who has won five of his 20 games in the Clipbush Park hot seat, said: 'I'd just like to say a big thank you to all of the players for their efforts during my time as manager.

'Hopefully we can finish my reign with a win and get out of the relegation zone before running the side is handed over to Wayne and Neil.'

It's not known whether the former King's Lynn hitman and respected non-league striker will remain as a player once his tenure comes to an end this evening.

For his dream send-off to be achieved, Fakenham must win while Thetford Town – two points above them – need to lose at home to third-placed Stanway Rovers.

The Ghosts could even leapfrog Walsham-le-Willows, 17th, if those two results happen and the side directly above the drop zone are beaten at Felixstowe & Walton United, second.

Harris, who used to play under Anderson and Jarvis before the latter left for Dereham Town Reserves last March, become sole manager in October. He had previously assisted Jarvis following Anderson's shock departure.

Elsewhere this afternoon, Gorleston will look to bounce back from their 4-2 loss at Hadleigh United when they welcome Newmarket Town. Champions and current leaders Norwich United, who are 11 points clear, will make it 20 wins from 23 matches if they succeed at Haverhill Rovers.

Kirkley & Pakefield, fifth, visit Long Melford while Swaffham Town will attempt to halt their slide down the table when they entertain Brantham Athletic. The Pedlars, promoted in the summer, have fallen to 16th having won just once in their last 10 league outings.

In the First Division, King's Lynn Town Reserves, fourth, travel to AFC Sudbury Reserves.

Robbie Back's Linnets will be boosted by the inclusion of suspension-free first-team talent Toby Hilliard.

Pawel Guziejko takes Downham Town to Debenham LC looking for the first win of his short tenure. The Pole has overseen four defeats since replacing Lewis Thompson.

Diss Town host Braintree Town Reserves while Great Yarmouth Town, third, travel to Woodbridge Town.

United Counties League Premier Division Wisbech Town, who yesterday confirmed that striker Chris Bacon had left the club to join higher-level Stamford, travel to AFC Kempston Rovers. Brett Whaley's travelling Fenmen sit 14th in the table, 12 places behind their title-challenging hosts.
