The true meaning of the day will be brought home with a Candle of Hope ceremony which gives people the chance to remember those who been lost to cancer and to celebrate the lives of those lucky enough to survive it.
It is the only time during the relay when the teams stop walking around the track. Once the candles have been lit, everyone gathers at the stage where a few words are spoken, including a poem from one of the survivors, and then there will be a song performed.
Everyone present then walks around the track in a silent lap, giving people a chance to have their own private thoughts, before returning to the stage where readings and a final song will take place.
A Candle of Hope ceremony will take place at 9.30pm where candles will be lit and placed all the way around the track.
Relay for Life takes place on July 18 at Caister High School and is in aid of Cancer Research UK.
