IT is not only engineering and manufacturing firms that are involved in the offshore energy sector. Local design company TMS Media has been working with the urban regeneration company, 1st East, to promote the ports of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft as potential bases for wind farm developers with a brace of new brochures.

The brochures highlight not only the ports' close proximity to the giant East Anglia Array to be built off Norfolk and Suffolk but also their offshore experience, well established supply chain and relevant skills base.

Philip Watkins, 1st East's chief executive, said: “Yarmouth and Lowestoft couldn't be better placed to exploit the enormous economic opportunities offered by these huge wind farms. The East Anglia Array, less than 25 kilometres from our coast, is the second largest of the round three developments and could have up to 1,000 turbines. It's a massive opportunity and it's on our doorstep.

“These brochures are a very effective way of encapsulating what each port has to offer the companies involved in planning, building and maintaining the East Anglia Array and other wind farms in the North Sea.”

TMS has a long history of working with the energy sector, ranging from creating promotional materials for local companies like 3Sun, HSC Tubular and Aquaterra Energy to writing and designing the quarterly newsletter of the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR). The company also designs and builds exhibition stands for key energy events.

Steve Scott, managing director, said: “The energy sector is hugely important to this area, and to our business. We've built up a broad portfolio of clients involved in engineering and manufacturing for the offshore industry and most of these are actively pursuing the opportunities being presented by the wind farms off our coast.”

A third brochure also produced by TMS for 1st East paints a broader picture of what the sub-region has to offer wind farm developers, highlighting not only the two ports but also education and training links, the structure of the local economy, availability of property and communication links.
