Winterton will hold a Family History Day on May 22 with local historian and patron of Holy Trinity and All Saints' Church, David Higgins, conducting tours around the churchyard.
Mr Higgins will explain how much information is to be found on a gravestone that cannot be found elsewhere. He will also tell the stories behind many of the gravestones which bear testimony to Winterton's seafaring past.
Chuchwarden Sandra Laws said: “It is not Highgate Cemetery but it comes a close second.”
She added: “We are also lucky to have on the day the Church Records, which are usually in the Norfolk Record office, together with some recently discovered parish records that have not been seen for years. And the school records will also be available.”
Entry to the Church Records will be free and there will be two tours of the churchyard, at 10.30am and 2.30pm, with tickets available at 5 each from 01493 393480.
Refreshments and toilets will be available.
