Plans to convert a former Great Yarmouth pub into a “high class restaurant” have been given the council’s seal of approval.

An application to turn to the Trafalgar Tavern on Victoria Road near the seafront into a restaurant was lodged in March and has since been approved by Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

In the application, applicant Sedorele Alia said it was her intention to turn to building into “a high class restaurant with a liquor licence for consumption on the premises”.

The application states the restaurant would open seven days a week, but does not specify exact opening hours.

It also specifies that the restaurant would be family-run, with a family-of-four listed as the intended employees on the application.

The application received two objections from nearby residents, who raised fears over noise and aroma pollution from the restaurant.

However, the application has since been given approval and will go ahead.
