The chairman of a hospice charity has appealed to a group of travellers to move off the land the health facility is to be built on.
Since Friday travellers have been at the site of the planned East Coast Hospice site off Sidegate Road in Gorleston.
It is hoped construction work will start on the 10-bed hospice next year following a £3m fundraising appeal and some clearance work was due to start shortly on the site.
MORE: travellers set up camp on hospice landJennifer Beesley, chairman of East Coast Hospice, has served a notice personally on the travellers asking them to leave by this afternoon, and if they do not then lawyers will start drawing up paperwork to remove them via an injunction.
Mrs Beesley said: “I want them (the travellers) to have the decency to understand this is the site of a hospice.
“It does not matter who you are, we are all maybe going to need that hospice and the palliative care it will bring.
“They are really going to cost the charity thousands of pounds, money that had come in from donations and from our fundraising supporters.”
