Former Great Yarmouth Town and Norwich City Reserve goalkeeper Trevor Saunders waited 35 years for a very special day.
Trevor, events and entertainments manager of Grosvenor Casino Great Yarmouth, was delighted to be invited to a recent Norwich City Players reunion organised for Ken Brown - and met his hero Kevin Keelan. Trevor was given Keelan’s shirt, the last one he wore for Norwich, by former chief scout Ronnie Brooks after the 1981 Schools County Cup Final at Carrow Road while playing for Blyth Jex School.
Both Hellesdon and Blyth Jex had blue shirts so Norwich lent Jex the yellow and green for the day. And Trevor had treasured his hero’s shirt ever since.
Despite playing for Norwich Reserves in the 1985 Milk Cup winning season he had never met Keelan until now.
