The King Street and South Quay practices in Great Yarmouth will be relocating next month.

Staff and patients will be automatically transferred when the current sites close, and services will reopen at the Lighthouse on the Greyfriars campus on Howard Street South.

NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney clinical commissioning group HealthEast said the two surgeries have been operating from old buildings where the small rooms do not

comply with the regulations. They said the new site is a five minute walk from King Street and from South Quay, in the hope the practices remain accessible to current patients.

Jonathan Knights, managing partner from East Norfolk Medical Practice said: “We are extremely excited about the move to The Lighthouse.

“This move is the next step in ensuring that the patients receive the very best.

“We would like to reassure patients they will continue to see the GPs and health team they have been used to seeing at their existing surgeries.”

Moving will also mean the recruitment of three new GPs, space to provide full nursing and phlebotomy services and full disabled access.

“We would like to reassure patients that they will continue to see the GPs and health care team that they have been used to seeing at their existing surgeries,” added Mr Knights.

Jack Jones, chairman of the practice Patient Participation Group (PPG), said: “We wholly support this move, and are confident that it is in the best interest of all South Quay and King Street patients.”

Jean Goffin, a long standing King Street patient and member of the PPG, added: “We realise some patients will have historical and sentimental views about the move, however, this move will bring considerable benefits to the practice and allow us to move forward in the future.”
