POLICE in Gorleston were out in force on Friday night in a bid to curb rising anti-social behaviour and underage drinking.

Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team joined PCSOs to target areas which recently have become hotspots for underage drinkers and criminal damage.

The team patrolled the streets and in particular Marine Parade in a mix of marked and unmarked police cars and several officers were in plain clothes with the CCTV van providing support.

One youth was taken home to his parents, several had alcohol removed, another was arrested for possession of cannabis and a motorcyclist was issued with a warning after seen riding in an anti-social manner.

Insp Paul McCarthy said: “We paid particular attention to off licences to ensure alcohol was not being sold.”
