PLANS to provide a new upmarket restaurant and caf� on Great Yarmouth seafront have been resubmitted following a flood risk assessment by officials from the Environment Agency.
The Bobbins Family Trust has applied to the borough council to create dining facilities with wine and lounge bars and six flats on the site of the existing Hollywood Caf�, Memoire Hotel and Sunshine Lodge on Marine Parade.
However, lengthy negotiations with the council resulted in the expiry of the eight-week time limit within which a decision had to be made on the original application.
So the developer had to resubmit the plans, and on this occasion the Environment Agency asked to carry out a flood risk assessment as the site is on the edge of the seafront zone where flooding is expected.
Agency officials inspected the site in January and decided adequate provision had been made for potential flooding.
The plan was originally to provide eight flats including one on the ground floor, but this has been changed to six two-bedroom flats on the first and second floors because of the council's concerns over flooding.
