LOCAL Urban Scouts groups put their skills into practice at a weekend exercise in Blundeston recently. The youngsters, who all attend weekly training sessions, took part in a variety of activities based around the scenario of attacking an enemy camp. Working in small groups, the Urban Scouts were required to collaborate in using taught command and communications skills, with a surveillance group identifying the commander of the enemy camp, then relaying this information back to an assault group.

The exercise also included a timed assault course. All those passing the course will now begin the jungle and survival training element of their instruction.

In addition to demonstrating their army skills outdoors, the Urban Scouts have also been receiving martial arts training and took their first grading in kickboxing with a 100pc pass rate. There are currently five Urban Scouts groups in operation in and around the area.
