GREAT Yarmouth's MP is encouraging local families with disabled children to use Family Fund Extra, a free online service that offers discounts on thousands of products and services.

Tony Wright said: “I am proud to endorse Family Fund Extra which provides an invaluable service for families with disabled children. The new website not only saves money, but also makes it vastly easier for disabled children to shop online. Since 2008, the government has allocated 770 million to improve services for disabled children. Family Fund Extra will help families with disabled children in Great Yarmouth make their money go further.”

The fund, which makes grants worth 30 million to 48,000 disabled children's families a year for the things they need, was launched on Wednesday, February 25 in the House of Commons by Children's Secretary Ed Balls.

Mr Balls said: “For thousands of families, week by week, year by year, this will make daily life better.”

Chief executive of Family Fund, Derek Walpole said: “The Family Fund is always looking for new ways for disabled children's families to keep their costs down. One click from the Extra website takes you to Amazon, Trainline and a hundred other sites. You pay the same and they give the Family Fund a small commission to help severely disabled children.”
