A string of Viking warriors walking through the gates of Caister Junior School as part of the year 4 Viking experience day. The children and staff had gone to great lengths to dress for the occasion.

The day was led by Portals to the Past who explained where the Vikings came from and outlined their achievements in sailing the northern oceans. There was a fair bit of showing off as well - something Vikings were renowned for.

The children took part in workshop activities ranging from a quiz through to chain mail making. The afternoon consisted of hearing all about weaponry - smashing up a melon as if it were a head. They then played some Viking games followed by a full scale battle.

Grundi Bloodaxe (year leader) said the children would take the experience and always remember what they did. He also thanked parents for making such an effort to dress up their children for the day.
