COUNCILLORS will hold a special meeting to discuss drawing up a leaflet on the costs of the new Belton sports pavilion in Belton.

Seven companies have tendered contracts for the facility on New Road playing field and Belton parish councillors will meet on January 8 to draw up the document for villagers.

A public meeting will also be called, most probably for the end of February, when residents will be able to ask questions.

The Football Foundation has agreed to contribute funding but the council is still waiting to hear if its application for a grant from recycling organisation WREN has been successful.

The aim is to have the pavilion completed by the end of next year, providing changing rooms for Bohemians Youth FC, while the Belton FC adult team could also play home games on the field.

Belton Cricket Club may also play home games at the ground, but the council would have to secure extra land for the pitch.
