VIP VISIT: Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI lifeboat crew was visited by the

High Sheriff of Norfolk, Viscountess Knollys, and her husband David.

Lady Knollys was greeted by station officials, including new vice-presidents Brian and Judy Potter, who gave her a guided tour of the station.

She also met members

of the crew, who gave

a demonstration of the inshore lifeboat procedure.

The party was then kitted out in all-weather lifeboat protective gear, boarded the Samarbeta and enjoyed a trip out to sea, enjoying close-up views of Yarmouth's new outer harbour.

On return to the station the party enjoyed a reception with refreshments organised by the ladies' lifeboat guild, and Lady Knollys was presented with a framed picture of the Samarbeta.

She said: “We are very impressed at the professionalism of the crew and shore helpers, and we are both filled with admiration and praise for the whole station.

“Our thanks go to the

ladies' guild for their

selfless commitment and hard work.”

Lifeboat chairman Jim Carter said it was an honour to receive a visit from Lady Knollys and her husband.
