THE phone number has been launched for people to vote for Great Yarmouth's Newtown Youth Centre to win a 50,000 lottery jackpot for a vital new youth centre.

To play your part in helping provide the 200 youngsters who regular use the centre with bigger and more modern facilities, courtesy of the ITV People's Millions appeal, phone 0871 6268802.

Norwich City fans heard a passionate pitch last night for people to support the youth centre from the centre's secretary Carl Harding, who was joined by the head of Yarmouth police Supt Jim Smerdon at Carrow Road at half time as he asked thousands of supporters to vote in the People's Millions contest today.

The centre has a chance of winning 50,000 if enough voters pledge their support today in a telephone vote running from 9am to midnight.

And tonight the centre will also feature on ITV Anglia as part of a week long series of programmes highlighting People's Millions nominees in the east of England.

To secure the 50,000, Mr Harding and his team need to garner more votes than their People's Millions head on rivals - a youth counselling and support centre in Harlow, Essex.

Today's People's Millions vote featuring the Newtown Youth Centre and the Harlow group runs from 9am to midnight. Telephone hotline numbers can be found by logging onto www.peoplesmillions.org.uk/regions/anglia.
