Vulpus the Barbarian visits Caister Junior School

PUPILS from Caister Junior School were visited by Vulpus the Barbarian and Julia Felix from Portals of the Past on Friday to create a living history day.

PUPILS from Caister Junior School were visited by Vulpus the Barbarian and Julia Felix from Portals of the Past on Friday to create a living history day.

An introduction of how Britain became part of the Roman Empire was followed by activities including Roman games, information boards and artifacts to complete a quiz and learning of Roman life.

Armour and weapons were displayed and some pupils had the opportunity to experience how it felt to wear heavy armour.

One of the highlights of the day was when the Celts attacked the Roman soldiers, Spurius Stratton and Butus Bayliss. The Celts were fierce and outnumbered the Romans to become victorious. The day ended with gladiators fighting in the gladiator arena in front of dozens of spectators.
