A RADIO presenter from Great Yarmouth has recalled some of his favourite memories after retiring after 20 years as a DJ on Hospital Radio Yare.

Wally Markham, 76, remembered going out on collections around Yarmouth with the other volunteers from the radio station.

He said: “We used to go out collecting money from different places. We did that for about 10 years.”

The father-of-three presented a two hour Big Band show on Thursday afternoons featuring music by Benny Goodman, Arty Shaw, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and Ted Heath. He now plans to tend to his allotments after completing his last show behind the decks on Thursday.
