ALLOTMENT holders in Gorleston are being urged to extra careful with shed security measures after a series of break-ins.
The warning comes after several sheds were broken into on an allotment site on Selwyn Road.
Between 3pm on Monday, December 20, and 8am on Tuesday, December 21, thieves broke into eight sheds but at this stage it appears no property has been stolen.
Some of the sheds had been left insecure and police are urging shed owners to be vigilant and ensure that outbuildings are installed with adequate safety devices.
Crime prevention advice offered by Norfolk Police includes the use of security screws or bolts through hinge fixings, and the use of good quality mortice locks or padlocks a third up and a third down on the door to reduce the leverage available.
They also advise securing windows with a weld mesh or a crime shield secured from the inside.
Anyone with information in relation to the incidents should contact PC Lee Howell at Gorleston Police Station on 0845 456 4567.
