TOURISTS will be receiving letters this summer to warn them about the powers to expel them if they misbehave while at holiday parks in Caister.

The notices will inform those that come to enjoy the area on a break that they can be booted out of resorts such as Haven Holiday Park without any money being refunded.

Brought in two years ago, the scheme was introduced as a way of routing out troublemakers, and was named Operation Ceiling.

Recently appointed Inspector for Caister Police, Nathan Clark, told Caister parish councillors on Monday that the measures would continue to help lessen crime in the area.

He said: “From April, Operation Ceiling will be targeting the holiday industry and how it affects the local area. We want to try and minimise harm that the holiday industry brings to the area such as thefts from our shops. If any families cause problems they will lose their holiday and be escorted away from the holiday centres.”

The extension of the measures follows news that of the 425 crimes committed in the area last year, 87 were related to holiday centres.

Alongside Operation Ceiling, Insp Clark said there would be an operation targeting the top five offenders in the parish, for which he and the team would be having be a drill briefing on Monday. He also targeted detection rates in the area, saying he hoped to push them from 22pc up towards 30pc.
