A football club chairman has expressed his anger after their equipment shed was vandalised in Great Yarmouth.

Wayne Hunter, youth chairman at Great Yarmouth Town Football Club, said that the unpaid volunteers at the club 'feel frustrated and angry' after the latest overnight vandalism to have occurred in recent months.

Fortunately for them, nothing valuable was inside the shed this time around.

But it comes as a further setback to the teams, based at Barnard Bridge, as they have also had their metal container broken into a couple of times over the past few months.

On those occasions, they had match balls and pieces of kit stolen and have also seen goalposts damaged.

They have since moved their equipment to a secure location.

'A lot of people are disgusted with what has happened,' said Mr Hunter – who has been involved with the club for about 10 years.

'Our metal container, which the youth teams used to store equipment, has been broken into a couple of times recently.

'But this time, they have broken a couple of the goalposts and smashed the shed to pieces.

'There was nothing valuable in there but we all feel frustrated and angry.'

The club are keen for anyone who may be able to help fund a large storage container, to store their equipment in, to come forward.

The Great Yarmouth Town Twitter page said that the equipment room has been 'mindlessly vandalised' and anyone with information should contact the club directly.
