The Met Office has issued weather warnings for snow across Norfolk and Waveney this weekend.

The yellow warnings are in place from 5pm on Friday until 9am on Saturday and all day on Sunday.

Up to 5cm of snow could fall in some parts of the region with the Met Office also warning of icy patches.

The warning states: “Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Icy patches are likely on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

“Snow showers are likely throughout Sunday, and where these converge some snow may well accumulate and could then prove disruptive. There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

“There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and services, such as mobile phone, may be affected.”

Adam Dury, of UEA-based Weatherquest, said costal parts of the region are likely to see the worst of the snow showers and daytime temperatures could dip to -1C on Saturday.

The weather front is coming from the east and north east but is not expected to be as disruptive as the Beast from the East.
