THE Women's Institute marked 75 years in Filby with the village's WI president, Jan Howard, planting a red standard rose bush.
The occasion is commemorated by a plaque placed in the bed by Filby in Bloom.
Mrs Howard was presented with the plaque by Sasha Lake, granddaughter of the plaque's donor, David Hunt, who fashioned the metalwork for the plaque himself. The plaque's artwork was undertaken by Peter Millicamp of PKM Studios.
In due course, 48 red geraniums will be planted in the WI's flower bed to fit in with Filby in Bloom's themed colour scheme for this summer's displays.
