A DRUNKEN man who smashed three windows of Gorleston Baptist Church was arrested after his blood was found at the scene, a court was told yesterday.

Craig Markx was fined £120 after he admitted breaking glass in the Lowestoft Road building between December 19 and Christmas Eve last year.

Yarmouth Magistrates' Court was told that Markx, 30, of Peterhouse Avenue, Gorleston, had no recollection of the incident and was arrested after his blood was discovered on one of the broken windows.

Sara Borthwick, prosecuting, said the total cost of replacing or repairing the windows came to £21.

Markx was told to pay £21 compen-sation to the church and to pay £60 towards prosecution costs. Addressing the court, he said: “I am very sorry that it happened. I won't get so drunk in future.”

Chairman of the bench David Pearson told him: “You were a nuisance doing this. Be very careful in the future when you have been drinking too much.”
