POLICE were inundated with reports of crashes in Norfolk and Suffolk as up to four inches of snow fell on to frozen roads and there were about 50 collisions alone between 7am and 2pm yesterday.

East Anglia was among the worst hit areas of the country over the weekend but forecasters predict temperatures above freezing this week.
The Great Yarmouth area was covered in several cms of snow, turning the beach into a winter wonderland, but failing to deter dog walkers and the intrepid.
Phil Garner, from Weatherquest, said they had not expected such a heavy snowfall or for it to last as long into the morning as it had. And he warned the sleet and the snow could make a return next weekend as temperatures were due to fall again.
The snow has given a treat for children who have been able to get out to enjoy making snowmen and get on their sledges and have snowball fights.
