A WOMAN and her two dogs were involved in a dramatic cliff top rescue this morning after her car reversed over a cliff at Scratby, near Yarmouth.

The woman managed to escape from the car after she had accidentally reversed the back of it over a 100 ft drop but her two dogs were left trapped in the vehicle.

Police officers from Caister were first on the scene and they managed to prevent the precariously balanced vehicle from toppling over the cliff by tying it to a lamp post.

Firefighters then managed to winch the car back over the cliff and reunited the two dogs with their relieved owner.

The woman and the dogs were unscathed from their harrowing cliff top ordeal, which happened at about 7.40am at a car park on Rottenstone Lane

Sgt Caroline Adams, for Caister police, said: “This was a very successful outcome to an incident that had the potential to have ended very differently.”

If anyone knows the woman involved in the rescue they can contact the Mercury on 01493 847958.
