A MAN who tried to steal a handbag from a car on King Street, in Great Yarmouth, was tackled by the female driver who managed to fend off the man by offering him cash.

A MAN who tried to steal a handbag from a car on King Street, in Great Yarmouth, was tackled by the female driver who managed to fend off the man by offering him cash.

The victim had been sitting in her green Hyundai parked in the bays between St George's Theatre and Fatso's restaurant last Wednesday when a man approached and said there was a scratch on the car.

The man, who was wearing dark clothing, then opened the passenger door and demanded cash. He tried to grab the woman's handbag but the victim managed to wrestle it from him. She handed the man cash and he fled the scene.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, of slim build, average height, with long straight brown hair in a pony tail. He was clean shaven and had a local accent.
