POLICE have searched woodland in their hunt for Great Yarmouth teenager Simon Everitt who is suspected to have been murdered.The 17-year-old was last seen in Gorleston on June 7 and his desperate family have had no contact with the Yarmouth College engineering student since then.

POLICE have searched woodland in their hunt for Great Yarmouth teenager Simon Everitt who is suspected to have been murdered.

The 17-year-old was last seen in Gorleston on June 7 and his desperate family have had no contact with the Yarmouth College engineering student since then.

On Tuesday, a specialist team of police officers scoured Fritton Woods, off the A143 at Fritton, but found no trace of Simon.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after officers received a telephone tip-off concerning Simon's disappearance.

A Norfolk police spokesman said: “The investigation is still being treated as a suspected murder and a full major investigation team at Yarmouth continues to work on the inquiry.”

Simon, who had recently moved into a seaside bedsit, was last seen on a mountain bike near the James Paget University Hospital, Gorleston, with another male at 11pm on June 7.

Two men, aged 24 and 19, and a 39-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and were bailed by police pending further inquiries.
