CHILDREN at Wroughton Middle and Woodlands Middle schools gathered to witness an extraordinary feat of strength last week. They watched in amazement as “Big Dave” Gauder, holder of 24 Guinness World records, pulled a double decker bus across the playground. This was followed by a talk from Dave about bullying and anti-social behaviour.

Dave has been running his anti-bullying campaign for seven years. He works with 30 police forces and is a trained drugs counsellor. He has now done over 880 bus pulls to over a million school children.

The strongman, who was himself bullied as a child, uses his own experiences to deliver a strong personal message that bullying of any kind is unacceptable. He aims to help build confidence, and encourages the children to not only look out for each other, but to show respect and understanding to all members of society.

His key messages were “Be confident, talk to parents, teachers and the police, and show respect.”
