A project to convert Yarmouth's dilapidated former art college into 18 flats has been criticised by nearby residents and the resort's tourist authority.
The Flagship Housing Group wants to transform the boarded up grade II listed building by St George's Park into seven two bed room and 11 one bed room flats.
Although borough council planners say the scheme should be approved by councillors on Tuesday night, the plans have led to strong objections from the Yarmouth Residents' Association and the Yarmouth Tourist Authority.
The association has drawn up a petition against the flat plans and says the new housing will not fit in with the area, are over extensive and would lead to parking problems.
And the tourist authority says the plans will lead to over development and may lead to noise pollution from increased traffic.
In a report to the council, planners say the college flats plan should be approved.
The paper says: “The scheme provides for the re-use of a listed building that has lain unused for a considerable period of time and the proposals represents an acceptable way of bringing it back into use.”
