The pledge came after taxi driver Trevor Phillips was fined �350 for smoking in a taxi and littering after he was found guilty by Yarmouth magistrates on Friday.
Phillips, of Frederick Road, had failed to attend the hearing where he was charged with smoking in a public place namely a taxi and littering.
Under the Health Act 2006 vehicles such as taxis, buses, pool cars and trade vehicles must be smoke free to protect the health of other users.
Kate Watts, environmental health commercial team manager, said: “The legislation has been in place for more than two years and there is no excuse for drivers that carry passengers not to comply with it.
“We will continue to vigorously enforce this legislation and will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who breaks the law.”
