A GREAT Yarmouth man is to appear before magistrates next month to be sentenced for burgling the town's historic St Nicholas Church.
John Mullen, 26 of Walpole Road, was found guilty of burgling the church, the largest parish church in England, and taking 20 on July 9 by Yarmouth magistrates in October.
Yesterday Mullen was due to be sentenced but the hearing was adjourned until December 4 because a pre-sentence report had not been prepared by the probation service because he had been ill.
Mullen had been told that he could face jail for the July offence, which he had denied.
On December 4 he will also be sentenced for possessing a lock knife in Yarmouth's Market Place on July 24. He had admitted the offence in October.
Magistrates granted Mullen conditional bail until December 4.
