EIGHT pioneering ideas are set to do battle in the annual Energy Innovation Awards to be staged in Norwich by EEEGR (the East of England Energy Group) - two from Great Yarmouth firms.

The entries, from across the region and beyond, will be judged at the Holiday Inn, Norwich International Airport, on Wednesday February 24 with the winners announced at a gala dinner in the evening.

Among the finalists are: Algae-Tech (UK) Ltd, Great Yarmouth: a next generation Algae production system; and C-MAC MicroTechnology, Great Yarmouth: high temperature DC-DC Converter.

Lowestoft based 4C Offshore, are also in the running with an easy accessed web-based global offshore wind information system.

“It's an excellent opportunity for industry, academics and the general public to see and evaluate some of the region's most inspired energy innovations,” said Stuart Thornton, EEEGR's operations manager.

“Previous contests have thrown up some invaluable and remarkable commercial innovations, some of which have been snapped up in business deals clinched during the event itself. This standard of this year's entries looks higher than ever.”
