A drunken Great Yarmouth man was told by a judge he had been “completely out of order” when he frightened a man in a market town.

Norwich Crown Court heard on Tuesday that Alexander Randall, 30, sat on a bench next to Craig Hill in North Walsham and initially was friendly and offered him a cigarette but then started making threats for money and for a lift.

Mr Hill gave him 52p and Randall left.

Randall, of Northgate Street, had initially been charged with robbery but admitted theft.

Recorder Christopher Makey gave him a 12 month supervision order and said: “Your behaviour on that afternoon was completely out of order. There is no doubt that the victim felt concerned enough to hand over money.”

Michael Clare, defending, said Randall had been drunk and realised how stupid he had been and how frightening it may have been for the victim.
