A PATCH of Great Yarmouth was looking blooming marvellous yesterday.
The grounds of the Newtown Community Centre were given a green revamp by seven members of Primos Gardeners.
Made up of people with learning or mental-health problems, the gang took up gardening as therapy last year. They started working in gardens and on town projects and run an allotment.
They used their skills to enhance the community centre's garden, thanks to a 1,000 donation from phone company O2 to buy new tools and a storage shed.
Phil Sawyer, a Primos Gardener, told how the group had benefited members. He said: “You can talk to anyone if you are down and working soon picks you up. It is also great fun.”
Mark Llewellyn, from Community Connections, said: “The Primos Gardeners are brilliant. Not only are they showing the rest of us what can be done with a few green fingers, they are showing what teamwork can achieve.”
Anyone wanting to contact the gardeners can call Mr Llewellyn on 07780 866394.
