A Norfolk singer's rock-chic wedding, including a live band and burlesque dancers, is to feature on a reality television battle-of-the-brides show.

Liza Wolfe and Joe Hood tied the knot in a marriage laced with music and magic which spelled a happy ending to a wedding saga that was initially marred when their venue went bust.

But a rescheduled ceremony and reception, with entertainment provided by members of their talented families, will be seen by satellite television viewers as four weddings go head to head to be the best with a honeymoon first prize.

Liza and Joe, from Banningham, near Aylsham, were originally planning to get hitched at nearby Aldborough Hall, until it closed last summer amid financial problems, which saw the couple lose their 1,500 deposit.

After reading about their plight, Lawrence Gage, owner of Caldecott Hall near Great Yarmouth, offered them his venue and honeymoon suite as a replacement.

The wedding went ahead in October with a traditional ceremony in a marquee attended by 30 people, followed by an evening reception for 70 in the function room which was a little less traditional.

Bride Liza said she wanted a “bohemian rock-chic wedding” where people dressed as they wanted.

Family connections saw entertain-ment from her son's rock band Agent Orange, a saucy strip down to their tassels by the Hot Bopping Girls burlesque team and some conjuring by Magical Ed.

She also saw that the Living TV show Four Brides was looking for people to take part, so she applied and was picked - and a film crew also joined the action on the day - along with three rival brides from the same episode who have to judge the contenders' event on dress, venue, food and experience.

“The two girls were not impressed, but a gay bloke bride was really up for it, and came dressed as Slash from Guns and Roses,” she said.

Whether the Norfolk couple won the show cannot be revealed until it is screened on June 21 at 9pm.
