If anyone needed a helping hand it was Jordan Stolworthy.
Having grown up in poverty by the time he was 23 he had even less, not even a roof over his head.
He lost his job, access to his young daughter and was struggling with a gambling addiction.
His prospects looked bleak and the possibility of turning his life around seemed remote.
Then Jordan, from Great Yarmouth, discovered the Premier Foundation, a not-for-profit charity aimed at supporting young people under the age of 25, and creating opportunities to get them back on track.
Through courses structured around sport and physical activity, young people learn vital skills and tools surrounding employability, mental health and physical health and wellbeing.
It was the catalyst for Jordan to put himself on a better path and now he is being hailed as a “role model” who is “looked up to” by other people working at the charity.
The weekly course meant he could meet other young people in similar circumstances and make friends, but also gain important skills that could boost his confidence and help him get a job.
Jordan has been with the Premier Foundation Multi Sport Course since the beginning of the programme in early 2017.
The programme was delivered in association with the Anchorage Trust, a charity that helps homelessness and young people in transition of homelessness.
A spokesman said: “The Premier Foundation immediately recognised an enthusiasm and passion for sport in Jordan from these sessions and have supported him by funding his qualifications, which he completed in August 2017, to get to where he is now: an influential activity professional with Premier Sport.
“Throughout the course Jordan grew in confidence and he now has a completely different outlook on life.
“We are delighted with how Jordan has turned his life around and that as a result he is no longer homeless and is supporting his little girl, who he now has back in his life.
“Jordan’s return from the brink epitomises everything that the Premier Foundation stands for; to actively change lives.”
