AN American director and producer is aiming to revive the concept of reality TV with his show The Escape, which will star a Great Yarmouth mum-of-three.

Steven Binko, the brains behind the programme, said the plot behind reality shows had become repetitive so he was aiming to add in twists and elements that people had not seen before.

He explained whereas other reality formats encouraged contestants to vote people off to help them stay in the game for longer, the idea behind The Escape was that voting their housemates off could hurt their chances of winning as they may have important information on how to escape.

Alison Hansby-Patterson, of Peggotty Road, will fly out to the States in December to join the other seven contestants for the filming in Alabama.

The single mum told the Mercury the show represented an opportunity for her to meet people she had only known over the website BlogTV, as well as giving her the chance to visit America which she had never done before.

Mr Binko explained the contestants all had one goal which was to escape and that each of them would develop clues on how to get out, so participants needed to avoid voting off someone who had vital clues.

He added: “Ultimately, I want to get this idea out there and have it turn into a mainstream television show that plays in the States and other countries. I have a lot of passion to be a larger part of Hollywood, and I really see this as a stepping stone to get there. I think it is a great opportunity for the contestants and a learning experience for myself.”
