TWO of Norwich and Peterborough Building Society's advisers will be swapping their court shoes for trainers, as they do their bit to support Cancer Research UK, by taking part in the Race for Life on May 2.

Jackie Platten and Ria Sparrow are customer advisers at N&P's Great Yarmouth branch in Market Place. The two have never taken part in the race before, so decided to do it together along with over 4,000 other women who will be there on the day, at the Norfolk Showground.

Race for Life is the UK's largest women only fundraising event, where women of all ages come together to raise money and walk, jog or run 5k or 10k to Cancer Research UK beat cancer.

Ria said: “I'm really looking forward to taking part in the race. It's for such a great cause and really does make a difference, plus it's a fun way of doing something good for charity. I'm not sure that I'll be running all of it, but as long as I get round for my sponsors, that's all I care about.”

Jackie said: “I can't see why any woman wouldn't want to do this at least once in their life. I lost my mum last October, so this is especially for her. We all know somebody who has died from cancer, and Cancer Research UK needs all the support we can give, so what a better way to raise some money. If anyone wants to sponsor us, we have the form in the branch and would welcome any support!”
