TWO post offices in the Great Yarmouth area are offering Turkish Lira over the counter following a 34pc growth in demand for holidays to Turkey.
Holidaymakers can buy the currency from either Filby or Caister Post Offices, which have joined 4,000 bureau de change post offices across the country which are now offering lira.
The Yarmouth borough branches have witnessed a double digit growth in lira over the last two month, which is now the Post Office's fourth best selling currency.
Customers who now buy Turkish lira until mid-May will benefit from a special deal offering an exclusive exchange rate daily - without imposing any minimum spending conditions.
Sarah Munro, Post Office head of travel, said: “The strength of the euro compared with the weakness of the Turkish lira against sterling is obviously having an impact and 2009 sales to date suggest another growth year for Turkey.
“That is why we are extending our over the counter service for Turkish lira to even more Post Offices in the Great Yarmouth area- making it easy and convenient for more of its customers to pick up lira at highly competitive rates.”
